Kelly Wang
WHAT I DO: As Co-President of HMP3, I have the opportunity to oversee our entire organization that comprises three branches: Exploring Healthcare, Bridging the Gap, and Mentorship. I work closely with General Board Members and Vice Presidents to make sure HMP3’s overall goal of being a professional pre-health organization to support undergraduate students is being accomplished.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: I love interacting with Vice Presidents to support their branch’s events and see HMP3 grow!

IF I WERE AN ORGAN, I WOULD BE...the thymus because I think that the immune system is really cool. :)

Vice President of Bridging the Gap
Hetty Chen
WHAT I DO: As the VP of Bridging the Gap, I oversee and work with the MEDS, HOPE, and HOP subcommittees to plan events targeted to underrepresented minorities, first-generation, and financially disadvantaged college and high school students that are interested in a healthcare career. I also work with the executive board to manage logistics and coordinate HMP3 events.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: I love being able to help students become more aware of the many different pathways of admission into the healthcare field and provide support throughout their journey. I believe that no one should have to give up on their dream due to circumstances that are beyond their control. It brings me great joy to be able to help others continue finding their true passion in a field that has endless opportunities.

IF I WERE AN ORGAN, I WOULD BE… the ear because I love listening to music and everything around me. Also, our ears never sleep, kind of like me.

Vice President of Mentorship
Ying Zhu
WHAT I DO: As Vice President of the Mentorship Branch of HMP3, I oversee both HPMP and PMP, the two mentorship subcommittees. I assist the co-chairs with event planning and mentorship applications and serve as a liaison between the co-chairs and the President. I’m also a part of the Executive Board of HMP3, helping to plan organization-wide events.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: Mentorship is an essential part of the process towards getting involved in healthcare, and I like being a core part of the process.

INTENDED PROFESSION: Physician Assistant (PA)
IF I WERE AN ORGAN ID BE… the nose because I have a strong sensitivity to smell and it is an organ that gets to explore a wide range of scents and odors, especially delicious foods (and I am such a foodie :)

Vice President of Exploring Healthcare
Annie Hoang
WHAT I DO As the Vice President of Exploring Healthcare, I oversee and support the Service, HRI, and SEARCH subcommittees. I collaborate with co-chairs to assist their event planning process. I also work with the President and other Vice Presidents to create organization wide events.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: I love interacting with my co-chairs and being creative in the brainstorming process. I enjoy the community HMP3 creates for pre health students!

Social Media and Communications Chair
Carolyn Foo
WHAT I DO: I design flyers and posters for HMP3 events and publicize events on social media.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: The best part of being the Social Media & Communications Chair is getting the opportunity to exercise my creative side and network with other pre-health students. I appreciate the people I engage with through HMP3 as they help me gain a different perspective on my career as well as receive support for my pre-med journey.

Finance Chair
Suphala Nibhanupudi
WHAT I DO: As Finance Chair, I manage HMP3’s funds and budget, keep track of TAP forms, and meet with subcommittees to discuss funding options and reimbursements.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSTION: I love talking with different chairs and learning about their subcommittee events as we work through different options for funding. It’s rewarding to help them find funding resources and I also get to learn about different HMP3 events!

Social and Membership Chair
Yuni Kim
WHAT I DO: As the Social Chair for HMP3, I am in charge of organizing fun events where we can all meet each other and hangout outside of our regular school and club responsibilities.

WHAT I DO: I help to run the Peer Mentor Program! This consists of making the mentor and mentee pairings and assisting with various mentor/mentee events we put on throughout the year.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: Meeting other pre-health students and being able to offer guidance to those who need it!

WHAT I DO: I manage the Peer Mentorship Program, pairing together students who are interested in becoming a peer mentor/mentee in order to help them build more knowledge and skills regarding their academic career.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: I love being able to connect students with other students at UCSD! I’m glad when people are able to form friendships with each other but also help each other in their career paths.

WHAT I DO: As Co-Chair of the Healthcare Professions Mentorship Program, my work focuses on pairing mentors and mentees based on their individual interests, checking in with mentees through the quarter, and using mentor/mentee feedback to develop future iterations of the program.
FAVORITE PART OF POSITION: Learning how mentors have shaped HPMP mentees’ perception of medicine and helped them along their pre-med journey!​

Colleen Alballat
WHAT I DO: As Co-Chair of the Healthcare Professions Mentorship Program, I communicate with health professionals, connect health professionals with mentees, and learn how to strengthen the relationships between mentors and mentees by listening to feedback from both mentors and mentees.
FAVORITE PART OF POSITION: I’m looking forward to hearing how the mentees enjoyed connecting with their mentors and learning about all the different things they got to do!

WHAT I DO: Organize blood drives and other service opportunities for pre-health students to give back to our community.

WHAT I DO: I plan and host events for the Health Opportunities Preparation and Empowerment branch! At the moment, I am working on planning and organizing the URiM Conference.

WHAT I DO: As the HOPE Co-Chair, I organize, host, and execute events, such as workshops and conferences, geared towards advocating for underrepresented students on the pre-health track.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: My favorite part of my position would be planning the annual Underrepresented in Medicine conference for other students to utilize.

Topher Huerta
WHAT I DO: As MEDS Co-Chair, I help lead the subcommittee and organize our annual conference. My role spans coordinating logistics, driving outreach, and creating engaging workshops. Above all, I’m dedicated to supporting students from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds in medicine, working with our team to ensure they have the resources and inspiration to thrive in their healthcare journeys.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: Being able to bring together a community of pre-med students who encourage and support each other to succeed in their own pathways!

IF I WERE AN ORGAN, I WOULD BE....the brain—constantly overthinking and staying overly curious while getting everything done (most of the time).

WHAT I DO: As a MEDS Co-Chair, I assist in leading the MEDS subcommittee and coordinating the annual MEDS conference. My responsibilities include overseeing logistical planning, spearheading outreach efforts, and collaborating on the development of engaging workshops. I work closely with our team to create an impactful and empowering experience for pre-med, pre-pharmacy, and pre-health students.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: My favorite part of being a MEDS Co-Chair is helping create a conference that not only educates but also inspires students to pursue careers in healthcare, all while addressing disparities in medical education.

WHAT MY POSITION DOES: I, alongside my MEDS co-chair and subcommittee, work to plan and execute an all-day conference focused upon low-income, minority students to become more informed and empowered to make decisions regarding their future career in the health field.
FAVORITE PART OF YOUR POSITION: I enjoyed my experience of being on the subcommittee in my first year so much, especially seeing all the hard work from the year result in an amazing culminating conference. I am looking forward to continuing with a higher leadership role for the MEDS 2024 conference.

WHAT I DO: As the Co-Chair of the SEARCH Program, I collaborate with my committee to plan events that provide UCSD students with a plethora of healthcare professions to explore. We work to educate our community and provide students with the resources and opportunities to explore alternative healthcare paths!

FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: I love meeting new people and helping them explore different pathways that they are interested in pursuing. I love having the opportunity to connect them with people who can help guide their future!

WHAT I DO: The Search committee provides opportunities and hosts informational speaker events, with the goal of introducing students to alternative health care paths.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION; I first joined this committee because I wanted to explore all career options in healthcare, and I want to guide others to find paths that truly suit them as well.

WHAT I DO: Reach out to local highschools and plan interactive workshops to expose students, especially those with low-income, underrepresented backgrounds, to different healthcare fields.

WHAT I DO: Provide informational and interactive workshops for the underserved and underrepresented population of high school students of San Diego to expose them to the different career paths in the field of healthcare.
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: Providing and getting the opportunity to work with a wide variety of healthcare professionals and also being surrounded by like minded individuals

WHAT I DO: As one of the co-chairs for the HRI Subcommittee, I work with my fellow co-chair to organize events that align with our mission statement and oversee the rest of my subcommittee members, helping out wherever I can to make our events as fun as possible for our members!
FAVORITE PART OF MY POSITION: I love meeting new pre-meds and seeing the hope in their eyes. The healthcare field can be intimidating, but it’s vital that we support each other and offer resources to elevate our fellow pre-health members as high as possible!
